Prairie View A&M senior defensive end Adrian Hamilton was named The Sports Network/Fathead.com FCS National Defensive Player of Week for his play versus Southern last weekend.

While leading Prairie View A&M to a 23-20 win against Southern, Hamilton had seven tackles, forced a pair of fumbles and recorded four tackles-for-loss (two sacks). He helped limit the Jaguars to 257 yards of total offense. 

The Dallas native leads PV in tackles (49), sacks (11) and forced fumbles (4) this season.  According to The Sports Network, Hamilton has been one of the most impressive defensive linemen in the FCS this season.  As a result, he has earned a spot on the Buck Buchannan Award Watch List which is awarded to the top defender on the FCS level.

The Panthers return to action this Saturday afternoon as they'll face Alabama State in a huge showdown at The Cramton Bowl in Montgomery, Ala.  Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. with an ESPNU tape-delayed broadcast at 9:30 p.m.
