The Prairie View A&M women's tennis team defeated Alabama State in a clean sweep of 4-0 to advance to the semifinal round of the Southwestern Athletic Conference Tournament on Friday.
The Lady Panthers will play No. 1 seeded Southern at 10 a.m. on Saturday for a chance to advance to the SWAC Tournament Championship game to play the winner of Alcorn State and Jackson State.
On Friday the Lady Panthers dominated their opponents as the match was called early after the team got out to an insurmountable 4-0 lead. The doubles team of Brittany Harrell and Christine Gwodog defeated Telfer and Denis of Alabama State, and Lerato Ndlovu and Jade Daniels defeated Barton and Farley of ASU to take the doubles point.
Gwodog then defeated Pauline Denis 6-2, 6-1 in singles play, while Danielle moore and Erika Bond defeated their opponents to give the Panthers the deciding 4-0 lead.
