Men's Track Captures Three Titles In Season Opener at UH

HOUSTON - The Prairie View A&M men's track & field team kicked off its indoor track season this past Saturday with three first-place finishes at the Houston Indoor Opener.

Junior sprinter Jordan Powell started the year out on the right foot as he captured the 200-meter dash crown with a time of 22.59.  Dewaylon Wilson placed third in the 400 after clocking a mark of 50.32 while the mile relay tandem of Wilson, Fard Rollock, DeMarcus Pierre and Sorone Batiste finished third with a run of 3:23.09.  Hurdler Michael Prejean placed fifth in the 60-meter hurdles followed by a sixth-place performance from Batiste in the mile run.

In the field, it was business as usual as senior Preston Woodard won the triple jump with a length of 15.33 meters.  Senior Pierre Shepherd also took home top honors as he posted a mark of 2.05 meters to win the high jump.

The Panthers return to action this Friday in College Station, Texas as they'll participate in the Texas A&M 12-Team Invitational.
