Jocelyn Adams, one of the most successful names as a player and coach in Prairie View A&M Athletics history, was inducted into the Southwestern Athletic Conference Hall of Fame Thursday night.

A two-time graduate of PVAMU, Adams was a highly decorated track athlete for the Lady Panthers, winning numerous conference and national championships and was an eight-time All-American performer.

That athletic success translated into coaching, as she earned Coach of the Year honors in her first season as Lady Panther volleyball coach in 1990. Just two seasons later, Adams led the program to its first SWAC volleyball championship.

After a decade-long stint leading the Lady Panthers, Adams got out of coaching until 2004 went she went into high school coaching before her current role as head coach at Texas Southern, where Adams has led the Lady Tigers to three straight SWAC Western Division titles.

She earned Bachelor's and Master's degrees from Prairie View A&M in 1987 and 1992, respectively. Adams, who graduated from Smiley High School in Houston, is also a member of the Texas Black Sports Hall of Fame.
