Matthew N. Teague accepted a football scholarship from PVAMU where he became a three-year starter at left defensive end as one of the top defenders for the team during the late 1970s. He was also a four-year Letterman and served as captain during his Junior and Senior seasons. He twice earned the All-Southwestern Athletic Conference honors.

He is a former NFL player for the Dallas Cowboys and Atlanta Falcons. He was also a member of the Outwaa Rough Riders, Toronto Argonauts, and Saskatchewan Roughriders of the Canadian Football League.

Since 1989, he is the founder of Teague’s BBQ in Spring, Texas.
