Samuel Barner

Samuel Barner was a four-year player for the Panthers’ football team (1989, 1991-93) and was a captain during his final three seasons.
 
Barner was one of very few football players who remained on The Hill following the 1989 season when football was discontinued. He remained, and returned to the team when the program was reinstated in 1991. Barner was voted the team’s most valuable player in 1992, and he was a two-time second-team All-SWAC punter (1991, 1993).
 
Barner, who went on earned a degree in Mechanical Engineering in 1994, was a PVAMU Presidential Scholarship recipient who was an honor roll scholar in Fall 1993 and a Dean’s List Scholar in Spring 1994.
 
Barner Is currently a senior engineer in Jackson, Mississippi.
