Thurman Boggess entered Prairie View A&M College after graduating from Booker T. Washington High School where he was a four-time state champion. One of the top 400-meter runners in Prairie View history, Boggess lettered four years under former head coach Hoover Wright from 1967-1970 and earned a bachelor’s in physical education. Upon his graduation from Prairie View, Boggess worked for Lyondell-Citgo and has also participated with the United Way.
Athletic Honors/Titles: Lettered in Track & Field 1967-70.
Outstanding Achievements: Member of the 1968-69 NAIA Men’s Indoor & Outdoor Championship Teams; NAIA All-American; ran the fourth fastest time in the nation in 1967 with a time of 45.3 in the 400-meter dash; won first place in the 600-yard run (1:13.4) at the 1968 NAIA Indoor Championship in Kansas City, Mo.; member of the national championship mile relay team (3:06.5) at the 1968 Outdoor Championship in Billings, Montana.
