The Prairie View A&M Panthers cross the state line for an important trip versus the Jaguars of Southern University on Saturday, Oct. 8 at A. W. Mumford Stadium.  Saturday's contest will be emotional for Prairie View A&M head coach Heishma Northern as he returns to his hometown and alma mater for the first time as a head coach.

After securing a 31-23 victory over Grambling State last weekend during the annual State Fair Classic in Dallas, the Panthers remain atop the SWAC West standings with a 3-1 SWAC record.  Southern is right on PV's heels with a 2-1 SWAC mark and is coming off a hard-fought road win over Mississippi Valley State last weekend in Itta Bena, Miss.

The Panthers enter this weekend's contest full of momentum after defeating Grambling State for the second time in three years.  Offensively, the Panthers received a huge boost as senior quarterback Jonathan Troast came off the bench with a career-high performance which consisted of four touchdown passes.

Saturday's contest will be broadcasted live by KPVU 91.3 FM beginning at 5:30 p.m. with a full recap scheduled for Sunday afternoon on the Heishma Northern show at 4 p.m. on Houston's KNTH 1070 AM.
