Women's Basketball Set For West Coast Tournament

Will Participate In Two-Day Cal Classic In The Bay Area

The Prairie View A&M women's basketball team hopes to snap a five-game losing streak in Berkeley, Calif. this weekend in the annual DoubleTree by Hilton Berkeley Marina Cal Classic hosted by the University of California.

The Lady Panthers will take on UNLV (6-1) in the first game of the tournament with the hopes of getting out of its rut at 6 p.m. CST.  They look to bounce back from a 79-69 loss to the hands of Northwestern State on Tuesday night in the Williams Nicks Building on the Prairie View A&M campus.

Freshman point guard Jeanette Jackson has led the way for the Lady Panthers. The Las Vegas, Nev. native has hit her stride offensively, averaging a team-high 12.2 points per game. She also leads the team in assists (2.8 per game) and steals (3 per game).

Jackson scored 15 points and added six steals in Prairie View A&M's Tuesday night loss. Junior forward Latia Williams had season-highs in points and rebounds against Northwestern State, scoring 18 and grabbing 11 boards en route to her first double-double of the season.

UNLV is off to a hot start, coming in at 6-1. Depending on the outcome of Saturday's matchups, Prairie View A&M will face either California or CSU Bakersfield on Sunday at 2 p.m. or 4:30 p.m. CST.

Live streaming video for all four games will be available through All-Access on CalBears.com. GameTracker live stats will also be available for all four games.
