HOUSTON – The Prairie View A&M women's basketball team returns to action on Wednesday evening as they'll host Texas Wesleyan in Houston at the M.O. Campbell Center at 5:30 p.m.
Tomorrow's matchup marks the conclusion of Prairie View's non-conference slate and the first of two games in the Houston area during a two-week span. Prairie View, which hasn't played a game in the area since Nov. 29, is well-traveled with matchups played on both coasts, Miami and the U.S. Virgin Islands during its non-conference travels.
Junior guard Kiara Etienne is playing her best basketball, and the Lady Panthers hope that it translates into a win Wednesday night against a hot Texas Wesleyan team.
Etienne is averaging 21.7 points per game over her last four contests, leading the Lady Panthers in scoring. Texas Wesleyan has won seven of its last eight games and is riding a two-game winning streak.
She scored a career-high 27 points against St. John's on Dec. 17. The junior guard was devastating from three-point territory, knocking down 5-of-11 shots from downtown in a 66-50 loss.
Freshman forward Larissa Scott has also shown improved efficiency and confidence as a player. She set career-highs in rebounds and points in a triple overtime loss to Louisiana Tech on Dec. 18. Scott grabbed 19 rebounds and scored 15 points in the 89-83 loss.
Senior guard Brittany White leads the Lady Rams (7-2) in scoring with 12.7 points per game.
The Lady Panthers (2-8) haven't played since Sunday, Dec. 18. They'll try to regroup after suffering two tough losses against St. John's and Louisiana Tech, respectively in the St. John's Chartwell's Holiday Classic in Queens, NY.
Admisison will be free tomorrow and commemorative women's basketball posters will be given out to fans in attendance on Wednesday. For fans unable to attend, a live video stream will be available thru the PVPanthers.com website. Click on the above link to access the stream.
