Jackson, Miss. - The Prairie View A&M Lady Panthers suffered a tough loss in their final match of a three-game Mississippi road trip, falling to Jackson State University on Friday night on the campus of JSU.
Jackson State raced out from the first serve claiming set one and two in runaway fashion 25-14 and 25-10. In set one, Prairie View was held as a team to eight kills on a .061 hitting percentage while in set two Prairie View, posted only seven kills on a -.010 hitting percentage.
In hopes to make their mark, Prairie View gave the Tigers a run for their money in the third set nearly forcing a fourth set, however the Lady Panthers ran out of gas as Jackson State held on to close out the set 25-22.
“We battled hard tonight but were not on top of our game as we struggled on both sides of the net,” said head coach Alicia Pete. “As we continue to strive for our goal to take care of business, offensive and defensive consistency is vital.”
The Lady Panthers return home for their next contest to face Texas Christian University on Nov. 2. First serve is set for 7 p.m.
