GAME BOX SCORE
The Prairie View A&M Lady Panther volleyball team dropped a 3-0 (25-18, 25-23, 25-14) decision to Houston Baptist on Tuesday evening in the William Nicks Building.
In the opening game, HBU outscored the Lady Panthers 10-3 down the stretch to pull away for a 25-18 victory. Both teams began evenly and were tied at 15-all until the HBU duo of Sarah Hazlewood and Heather Leverton came alive and combined for five kills to seal the victory.
The second contest was a mirror image of the first as both squads were deadlocked at 16-all midway through the match. Prairie View managed to move ahead from that point as they took advantage of several Huskie attack errors in addition to two kills from senior Sharonda Marshall to lead 20-17. However, HBU fought back and tied the game at 21-all and eventually secured the win as the Lady Panthers were their own worst enemy after posting four attack errors and a service error.
During the match finale, HBU went on a 9-3 run midway through the game and never looked back as they closed out the match with a 25-14 win.
Cheri Lindsay led the Lady Panthers with 10 kills while Erin Fondel posted 28 assists and five digs. HBU's Victoria Weatherly tallied 33 assists coupled with 10 kills from Jolie Graf.
Prairie View returns to action on Thursday with a matchup versus Huston-Tillotson at 7 p.m. in the William Nicks Building.
