BOX SCORE (Nicholls State)

LAKE CHARLES, La. - Prairie View A&M volleyball closed out the annual McNeese State Invitational with a pair of hard-fought 3-1 losses to McNeese State and Oral Roberts on Saturday.

In the opener on Saturday, Oral Roberts won set one 25-12 before PV fought back and captured a hard-fought second set in extra frames 27-25.  Prairie View couldn't recover from the previous set as ORU jumped out ahead and won set three 25-5 before closing out the match with a 25-13 win in the fourth and final set.

Jasmine Houston led PV with five kills and five assists while Maria Moulaz tallied 10 assists.

The tourney finale was similar to the first match of the day as PV won the second set before dropping the final two games in a 3-1 loss to McNeese State.

Prairie View rallied back in the opener from a nine-point deficit and closed to within 22-19 following a kill from Jasmine Wells.  However, two attack errors by PV at the end of the set haunted them as McNeese won the opener 25-19.

The Lady Panthers won set two 25-18 as they were down 13-10 before storming back with a 10-2 surge to lead 20-15.  During the surge, the trio of Breanna McNeil, Christine Ruckman and Bruna Menezes paced the Lady Panthers with several kills.

In set three, McNeese broke away from Prairie View as the Lady Panthers committed 11 attack errors en route to a 25-14 loss.  The same held true in the match finale as McNeese turned a 4-4 tie into an 18-10 advantage as PV finished the tourney winless.

McNeil led PV with 10 kills while Moulaz finished with 35 assists.  Ruckman also had a solid game defensively with two solo blocks followed up by four block assists from Maegan Coleman.

The Lady Panthers open up at home on Tuesday evening versus Houston Baptist at 7 p.m. in the William Nicks Building.
