The Prairie View A&M Lady Panther volleyball team dropped their home opener by a margin of 3-0 on Tuesday night versus Houston Baptist.

The Lady Panthers started out strong against the Huskies as they remained within striking distance to begin the match.  Down 16-13, HBU took advantage of several PV errors to pull away 25-17 to claim the opener.

In set two, both teams were neck-and-neck until midway through the set when HBU broke open the game via several kills from Haley Hoffman for a 22-16 advantage.  After trading service errors, HBU went ahead 24-17 following a kill from Christie Dorch in addition to a PV attack error to close the match.  During the match finale, Prairie View A&M fell behind early and never recovered as HBU stormed ahead 9-1 and never looked back to sweep the season series between both teams.

Junior Christine Ruckman led PV with six kills while Maria Moulaz followed with 13 assists. 

Prairie View A&M travels to Arlington, Texas this weekend for the annual UTA Invitational beginning on Friday at 4 p.m. versus Texas Tech.  The tourney runs through Saturday on the campus of the University of Texas-Arlington.
