Panthers Head To The Metroplex For State Fair Classic On Saturday Evening

GAME NOTES

The 2011 edition of the Dallas State Fair Classic kicks off this weekend as the Prairie View A&M Panthers battle the Grambling State Tigers at the Cotton Bowl in Dallas, Texas scheduled for 6 p.m.

This year's matchup is full of storylines from the players to the coaching staff as it marks the return of Grambling State head coach Doug Williams to Dallas in addition to his first meeting against former assistant, Prairie View A&M head coach Heishma Northern.

Prairie View A&M is coming off a 43-34 home win over Mississippi Valley State on Saturday, Sept. 24.  The Panthers had a season-high offensive performance and look to continue the momentum under the bright lights of the Cotton Bowl.   The Panthers had their rushing attack at full force last weekend followed by another solid performance from freshman quarterback Jerry Lovelocke.

Grambling State is 1-3 on the season and has lost three in a row.  Saturday's meeting marks the seventh time the Panthers will face Williams and the first since 2003.

Saturday's game can be heard live on KPVU 91.3 FM (www.pvamu.edu/kpvu) beginning at 5:30 p.m.  On Sunday afternoon, tune into the Heishma Northern show at 4 p.m. on Houston's KNTH 1070 AM (www.1070knth.com) for a full game recap and also hear progress on the proposed Prairie View A&M football stadium from Prairie View Foundation President/Chairman Roy G. Perry.
