Men's Tennis Looks For Improvement Against Texas A&M-Corpus Christi

The Prairie View A&M men's tennis team looks to rebound from a 7-0 loss against Louisiana-Lafayette on Sunday with a good showing at home against Texas A&M-Corpus Christi Thursday, Jan. 26 at the Prairie View Tennis Courts.

Though the Panthers did not play as well as they would have like in the doubles competition, losing 8-4 in both matches, the play of Prairie View No. 1 Ronald Chidzikwe in singles competition was inspiring.

He lost 6-2, 7-6(4) to Carlin Murray of Louisiana-Lafayette.

“We had a pep talk before, and overall the matches were better,” Prairie View head coach John Cochran said. “Chidzikwe lost 6-2, 7-6. He has a chances to win the last set and go three sets with that guy.”

Cochran would like to see his team become more assertive and set the tempo in its upcoming 3 p.m. match against Texas A&M-Corpus Christi.

“We didn't play as aggressive as we could,” Cochran said. “But we played fairly well. I was pleased with the overall play. There's nowhere to go but up.”
