The Prairie View A&M women's volleyball team ended its Southwestern Athletic Conference regular season play with a 3-0 win over Alcorn State on Wednesday night in the Williams Nicks Building.
The Lady Panthers hosted Senior Night and received an astounding performance from its two senior right side hitters, Breanna McNeil and Bruna Menezes. This senior duo carried the team on their backs with a total of 26 kills. McNeil had 13 kills, 7 digs and a .448 attack percentage, and Menezes contributed with 13 kills, 6 digs and a .500 attack percentage to improve their team's SWAC Western Division record to 8-1.
Junior setter Kelsey Espinosa led the team with a game-high of 33 assists. Sophomore outside hitter Charae Caldwell added energy off the bench for the Lady Panthers with eight kills and a .538 attack percentage. Sophomore libero Shanice Faison led the team defensively with eight digs, while Espinosa and McNeil complemented the defensive effort with seven digs each.
The Lady Panthers are the No. 1 Seed in the SWAC Western Division in the conference tournament. The SWAC tournament will be Nov. 16-18 in Jackson, Miss. Check back on www.pvpanthers.com for updates on the SWAC Tournament Schedule.
