BOX SCORE
Prairie View A&M fought hard, but No. 24 Texas A&M had too much fire power to overcome in a 74-52 loss at Reed Arena Friday night to round up non-conference play.
The Lady Panthers turned to senior guard/forward Latia Williams for production, as she was able to score inside and out for her team. She finished the game with a team-high 14 points and also contributed with three assists and four rebounds.
Though the Lady Panthers lost, Prairie View A&M head coach Toyelle Wilson said she liked the way her team competed against its much-larger SEC opponent.
"I thought we executed our offense well," Wilson said. "I was proud of the way the girls ran the plays and executed them. We just didn't hit our shots."
In a match up against one of the SEC's top post players in 6-4 Kelsey Bone, sophomore center Larissa Scott did some damage. Scott scored eight points in a match up in which she gave up four inches in height to her opponent.
Making the most of her third start this season, JaQuandria Williams came through with 11 points and four rebounds. It proved to be JaQuandria Williams third double-digit scoring game of the season. Point guard LaReahn Washington had a well-rounded game. She had five points, seven rebounds and four assists in 27 minutes off of the bench.
Bone led Texas A&M with 18 points, nine rebounds and six assists.
