Lady Panthers Head To St. John's Chartwell's Holiday Classic

GAME NOTES
ESPN3 GAME 1
ESPN3 GAME 2

The Lady Panthers look to turn their fortunes around as they prepare to face Drexel and James Madison in the St. John's Chartwell's Holiday Classic in Queens, N.Y. Prairie View A&M, led by junior point guard Jeanette Jackson, will try to snap a six-game losing streak and pick up its first win under interim head coach Dawn Brown this season.

Both of the Lady Panthers' games will be streamed live on ESPN3, beginning with James Madison at 2:30 EST on Saturday Dec. 14.

Jackson scored a team-high 19 points in a 77-52 loss to FIU on Dec. 6. She has been the points leader for the Lady Panthers in 3-of-6 contests and has led the team in assists in all  but one game this season.

Brown is still looking for that consistent second scoring option to complement Jackson in the offense as Prairie View has yet to see two players score in the double figures in the same game this season. Junior center Asha Hampton-Finch showed signs of scoring brilliance when she scored a career-high 19 points in a 74-46 loss to Houston on Dec. 1, but she followed it up with four points against FIU.

Redshirt sophomore guard Gabrielle Scott proved to be a volume scorer when given the ball and minutes in the 2012-13 season. Scott had eight games as a redshirt freshmen in which she scored 10 points or more. There were eight games last season when Scott played 25 minutes or more and took 10 shots or more. In those games she averaged 13 points for the Lady Panthers. Some of those performances included: 13 points at Memphis, 20 points against Hampton, 16 points vs. Texas Southern and 14 points against No. 1 Baylor in the NCAA Tournament.

Prairie View A&M will face both Drexel and James Madison for the first time in program history. James Madison is 6-2 with wins over Virginia, Richmond, UCLA and Pittsburgh this season. Drexel won the WNIT Tournament last season and enters the St. John's Chartwell's Holiday Classic with a 2-5 record. Prairie View A&M will face the Dragons at noon on Dec. 15.
