Prairie View A&M and reigning Southwestern Athletic Conference Player of the Week Jeanette Jackson will try to pick up their first win of the season in Mt. Pleasant, Mich. vs. Central Michigan at noon today.
The Lady Panthers dropped their last game 53-45 to Drexel on Sunday in the St. John's Chartwell's Holiday Classic, but the crowd witnessed another high-octane performance by Jackson, the junior point guard out of Las Vegas, Nev. She lit the Dragons up for 23 points and four assists. It was Jackson's fourth game with 20 points or more and her fifth game with 19 points or more through eight contests this season.
Despite Jackson's ability to score for the Lady Panthers, Prairie View A&M has yet to have two double-digit scorers in the same game. Redshirt sophomore guard Gabrielle Scott, junior forward Larissa Scott and junior center Asha Hampton-Finch are all players who have proven to put up 15 points or more in their college careers. Lady Panthers coach Dawn Brown will look to those players to step up against the Chippewas.
Central Michigan averages 80.2 points per game, but they are giving up 80.8 points a contest; the Lady Panthers (averaging 48.8 ppg) will try to capitalize by putting up their best offensive numbers of the season.
