HOUSTON-The Lady Panthers took a step back in the Texas Southern Invitational, dropping matches to Oral Roberts and rival Texas Southern respectively to fall to 1-2 on the season.

The Lady Panthers dropped both matches in straight sets, losing to Oral Roberts in the 9 a.m. match 25-11, 25-15, 25-15. Prairie View A&M then followed it up with a 25-19, 25-23, 25-16 loss to Texas Southern to bow out of the tournament 1-2.

Junior middle blocker Magda Zietek was selected to the TSU Invitational All-Tournament team after her outstanding play. She started the tournament off with 10 kills and 12 digs in a 3-0 win over Southern. She had a team-high seven kills in the 3-0 loss to Oral Roberts and also provided a 5 kill performance win the 3-0 loss to TSU. Junior right side Candyce Alexander finished with five kills and 10 digs against Texas Southern as she tried to keep her team in the game.

The Lady Panthers return to Houston at 7 p.m. on Tuesday to face a tough Houston Baptist squad, which swept Prairie View A&M in the two-game series last season.
