Lady Panthers Volleyball Fights Hard But Falls In McNeese Tournament

The Prairie View A&M women's volleyball team gave a valiant effort in the final match of the McNeese Big Daddy's Invitational, but it ended up losing 3-1 to McNeese State. All-Tournament middle blocker Magda Zietek and teammate Candyce Alexander had major contributions in the first set won by the Lady Panthers in 11 matches. 

The Lady Panthers received five kills from Alexander in the second set as Prairie View A&M was able to take control and hold on for the win. Alexander's five kills was a part of her career-high 13 kills. Zietek had three kills during the Lady Panthers winning set to add to her game-total of 11 kills. 

Zietek, the reigning two-time SWAC Newcomer Of The Week was selected to her third consecutive All-Tournament team. She averaged 10 kills per match for Prairie View A&M during the McNeese Big Daddy's Invitational. She also averaged 6.5 digs per match, and in the 3-1 loss to McNeese State she was one dig shy away from a double double in addition to adding five total blocks. 

Prior to its 3-1 loss to McNeese State, Prairie View A&M suffered 3-0 losses to Southern Miss., Texas-Pan American and Louisiana-Monroe. The Lady Panthers went 0-4 in tthe tournament, but they have a chance to get back on the winning side of things in a 7 p.m. match up against Huston-Tillotson at 7 p.m. at home in the William Nicks Building (The Baby Dome).
