BOX SCORE
Prairie View A&M could not hold its ground in the William Nicks Building and dropped a 3-0 match on the volleyball court to the McNeese State Cowgirls on Monday night in front of the home crowd.
Lady Panthers junior middle blocker Magda Zietek tallied a team-high of 10 kills in the loss and also provided two points defensively with two blocks. She received help offensively from freshman outside hitter Lenicia Tyson, who provided a spark off of the bench. Tyson was efficient on the attack, racking up five kills off of seven total attacks with two errors for a .429 attack percentage. She also came through with five digs.Â
Unfortunately McNeese State still proved to be too much for the Lady Panthers. After taking the first set 25-15, McNeese raced through the second set for a 25-7 result. In the third set, a Tyson kill followed up with a Zietek solo block tied the game at 9-9. However, the Cowgirls went on a 12-5 run to take a 21-14 lead, and Prairie View A&M could not recover. McNeese won the thrid set 25-18.
Junior libero LaKeisha Allen turned in a 15-dig night despite the loss to lead the Lady Panthers defensively. That proved to be a season-high for the McAllen native, while senior setter Kelsey Espinosa dished out a team-high of 13 assists.
Prairie View A&M (2-16) hits the road to take on Huston-Tillotson at 6:30 p.m. in Austin.
