JACKSON, Miss. - Prairie View A&M interim head coach
Dawn Brown returns to her hometown this afternoon for a pivotal SWAC match-up at Jackson State on the JSU campus. The contest will be broadcast live by KPVU 91.3 beginning at 2:45 p.m.
One week after a tough loss to TSU, the Lady Panthers will have to shake it off quickly as Jackson State has jumped out to a 3-1 SWAC mark in its second year under head coach Surina Dixon. Prairie View A&M last met JSU in the first round of the SWAC Tournament last season and jumped out to a huge lead before holding off a late JSU rally for a 66-60 win.
While Saturday's game marks a homecoming for Brown, a JSU graduate, the city of Jackson hasn't been as hospitable as the Lady Panthers haven't won in the city since 2009. For their fortunes to change, Prairie View A&M will need to rely on its 1-2 punch of point guard
Jeanette Jackson and forward
Larissa Scott. Jackson is averaging 17.8 points per game while Scott has grabbed five consecutive double-doubles.
Redshirt sophomore
Gabrielle Scott also returns to her home state as the Vancleave, Miss. native ranks third on the team in scoring.
