LaReahn Washington was named the SWAC Player of the Week while junior guards
Jeanette Jackson and
Montrael Scott were selected by College Sports Madness SWAC Women's and Men's Players of the Week.
Washington grabbed a career-high 10 rebounds with seven assists in her 40 minutes of play on Saturday night in PVAMU's 75-62 victory over Arkansas-Pine Bluff. She then led the Lady Panthers to their third straight win, scoring a career best 24 points Monday night with a 77-59 win over Mississippi Valley State.
For the week, Washington averaged 18.5 points and nearly earned a double-double, recording 8.5 rebounds per game. Averaging 37.5 minutes per game, the Houston, Texas native closed out the week with 5.5 assists and 3.5 steals. She shot 64.7 percent from the field and 76.5 percent from the charity stripe overall.
Jackson led PVAMU to its third conference victory Saturday, scoring 21 points with five assists and two steals in the 75-62 win over UAPB. With Monday's 77-59 triumph over Mississippi Valley State, she tallied 14.5 points, six assists, four rebounds and three steals on the week.
Scott averaged 23.5 points in two games last weekend as he moved up to third in scoring amongst SWAC leaders. On Saturday, Scott nailed eight three-pointers for a 2013-14 SWAC single-game high en route to a career-high 28 points in a win over Arkansas-Pine Bluff.
Both the men's and women's basketball teams return to action this Saturday as they travel to Montgomery, Ala. for a match-up at Alabama State beginning at 3 p.m.
