PRAIRIE VIEW, Texas -- The Prairie View A&M Lady Panthers dropped their regular-season finale Monday to the visiting Golden Lions of Arkansas-Pine Bluff despite a record performance from senior
Candyce Alexander.
Scores of the match were 22-25, 25-15, 25-22, and 25-22.
Alexander, a right-side hitter and setter from Bedford, Texas (Missouri-West Plains), posted her second consecutive double-double and knocked down a career-high 24 kills in the match against the Lions. She also handed out 20 assists and recorded 13 digs.
Alexander hit .347 for the match. She had 21 kills after three sets.
Lenicia Tyson knocked down 12 kills for the Lady Panthers.
Paige Chuidian handed out 22 assists, while senior
LaKeisha Allen registered 26 digs for Prairie View A&M.
Chandler Bacon recorded 10 digs for the Lady Panthers (9-17), who finished the regular season with a 3-5 record in the Southwestern Athletic Conference's West Division.
The Lady Panthers earned one of the four playoff spots from the SWAC's West Division. The SWAC Volleyball Tournament begins Saturday at Southern University in Baton Rouge.
