Football Returns To Action With Trip To Arkansas-Pine Bluff This Saturday

Prairie View A&M prepares for its final two regular season games of 2014 as a match-up looms at Arkansas-Pine Bluff this Saturday at Golden Lion Stadium. For the third time this season, the Panthers will participate in homecoming festivities as Saturday's game is UAPB's annual homecoming at 2:30 p.m.

The Panthers saw their three-game winning streak snapped two weeks ago in a disappointing loss to Alcorn State as the contest marked the last game in the history of Blackshear Field. The loss killed any hopes for a winning season as a non-losing mark for the second straight season is the only attainable goal at this point with only two games left.

The Panthers have received a balanced performance from a variety of players as senior quarterback Jerry Lovelocke has passed for 1,805 yards and 10 touchdowns. Junior running back Johnta' Hebert is the top rusher with 813 yards per game and nine touchdowns while senior wideouts Gabe Dunlap and Greg Thurmond have caught 41 and 35 receptions, respectively. Defensively, senior linebacker Jerome Howard has 99 tackles,

13 tackles for loss, 5.5 sacks and two forced fumbles. Fellow senior Danny Brownell follows Howard with 75 stops, 12.5 tackles for loss and two sacks.

The contest will be broadcast live on KPVU 91.3 FM.
