Volleyball Wins One, Drops Pair In Season Opener

BOX SCORE 1 | BOX SCORE 2 | BOX SCORE 3 The Prairie View A&M volleyball team finished 1-2 in its season opener tournament at Texas Southern this past weekend.  PVAMU fell 3-0 to Grand Canyon on Friday afternoon, defeated New Orleans 3-2 on Saturday but dropped the finale 3-1 to Texas Southern.

GRAND CANYON 3, PVAMU 0
The Lady Panthers dropped a 26-24 heartbreaker to open the match and couldn't recover as Grand Canyon claimed a 3-0 win in the opener.
Candyce Alxeander had 16 kills followed by Ana Kiso's 18-assist, 12-dig outing and LaKeisha Allen's 13 digs.

PVAMU 3, NEW ORLEANS 2
The Prairie View A&M Lady Panthers prevailed over the University of New Orleans in five sets in the first match of the Texas Southern Invitational on Saturday.

Mariah Cox led the Lady Panthers with 17 kills. PV libero LaKeisha Allen recorded 22 digs, leading five Lady Panthers reaching double-figures in digs.

TEXAS SOUTHERN 3, PVAMU 1
Nearly five consecutive hours of volleyball over two matches proved to be too much for the Prairie View A&M Lady Panthers to overcome as Texas Southern outlasted its guests in four sets Saturday at the Texas Southern Invitational.

Audriana Carson led four Tigers reaching double-figures in kills with 14. She also had nine blocks (three solo, six assisted). Candyce Alexander led Prairie View A&M with 12 kills, while Mariah Cox added10 kills against only two errors.

The team returns to action on Tuesday with its home opener versus Houston Baptist at 7 p.m.
