JACKSON, Miss. – The Prairie View A&M Lady Panthers opened the second day of the inaugural Southwestern Athletic Conference Volleyball Roundup with a four-set loss to host Jackson State.

Scores of Saturday's opening match were 25-18, 25-18, 22-25, and 25-16.

Taija Thomas knocked down a match-high 15 kills for the host Lady Tigers, who improved to 5-19 with the win.

Prairie View A&M (3-20) was led by
Randi Hunter, who knocked down 12 kills for the Lady Panthers.
MoKeysha Shanklin added seven kills for PVAMU.

Ana Kiso handed out 29 assists for the Lady Panthers, while
Paige Chuidian led the defensive effort with 10 digs.
Christen Augustine added nine digs for Prairie View A&M.

The Lady Tigers hit an astounding .382 for the match, while holding Prairie View A&M to a .133 hitting percentage. The Lady Panthers recorded 43 kills in the match, but also had 27 hitting errors.

Prairie View A&M concluded play at the Roundup on Saturday evening against Alcorn State. Scores from the match were unavailable at press time.

The Lady Panthers return to action Monday when they visit Baton Rouge on their way home from Mississippi for a SWAC West Division match at Southern. Match time is scheduled for 6 p.m.

Prairie View A&M's next matches in Texas are scheduled for later in the week, starting with a Wednesday match in Austin at Huston-Tillotson.
