BATON ROUGE, La. – The Prairie View A&M Lady Panthers fought valiantly in all three sets Saturday but saw their season ended by Alabama A&M at the Southwestern Athletic Conference tournament.

Scores of the match were 25-23, 25-21, and 25-22.

Ashundria McNeil knocked down a match-high 17 kills for Alabama A&M, while her teammate Savannah Blackiston added 15 kills for the Bulldogs.

The freshmen-heavy Lady Panthers (9-25) were led by
Randi Hunter, who knocked down nine kills.
MoKeysha Shanklin and freshman
Mykaeli Franklin recorded eight kills apiece for Prairie View A&M.

Ana Kiso, the lone senior on the Prairie View A&M squad, handed out 31 assists in her final collegiate match. She also added six digs and four kills to her stat line.
Christen Augustine led the defensive effort with 17 digs, while
Paige Chuidian added eight digs for the Lady Panthers.

The Lady Panthers held a 21-19 lead in the first set, but a 5-1 run by the Lady Bulldogs gave AAMU set point.
Randi Hunter knocked down a kill to close the deficit to one point, but a bad set on the next point gave the Lady Bulldogs a victory.

Prairie View A&M played from behind for the entirety of set two, falling behind 12-4 and 21-11. The Lady Panthers responded with a 5-0 run – the first of two PVAMU run of four or more points in the set – but it wasn't enough to tie the match.

The Lady Panthers went 1-2 in three matches at the SWAC Tournament, marking the first time since 2013 that Prairie View A&M won a tournament match.
