The opening tip

The Prairie View A&M Lady Panthers seek a return to their winning ways after falling 69-60 at TCU last week. The Lady Panthers are led by senior Larissa Scott, who has been the recipient of the Southwestern Athletic Conference's first two Player of the Week honors this season.
The Lady Techsters (3-2), are playing their first games back in the United States after a 1-1 trip to the Bahamas. Louisiana Tech lost to UCLA 68-57 before bouncing back with a 58-53 win over Denver.

The series
The Lady Techsters have won all three prior meetings with Prairie View A&M in a series that dates back to the 1989-90 season. The teams last met in New York on Dec. 18, 2011, when Louisiana Tech prevailed 89-83 in three overtimes. The Lady Techsters won 79-46 in the only prior meeting in Ruston, on Nov. 13, 2010.

  • Larissa Scott pulled in her third double-double of the season, scoring 15 points and pulling 13 rebounds. She also tied a career high with five blocked shots.
  • Monique Abbs set a PVAMU career high by scoring 15 points, which included a 5-of-8 showing from the 3-point circle.

Scott returning to form
  • After missing most of the 2014-15 season with an injury, senior Larissa Scott was granted a medical redshirt and returned for the 2015-16 season
  • The 6-foot forward/post began the season with a 19-point, 21-rebound performance in the team's season-opening win over Howard Payne; Scott became one of a handful of players in PVAMU history to pull in more than 20 rebounds.
  • Scott has recorded double-doubles in each of PVAMU's three official contests this season.
  • Scott was the recipient of the Southwestern Athletic Conference's first two Player of the Week honors this season.

Comforts of (close to) Home
  • Prairie View A&M plays six of its nine non-conference games in Texas and Louisiana this season. This includes two home games (today vs. Howard Payne, Dec. 5 vs. Lamar) and games at both TCU and Texas A&M.
  • The Lady Panthers were 3-3 in road games and neutral-site games fewer than 100 miles away from the Prairie View A&M campus this season.

Lady Panthers among the nation's elite
  • Entering Wednesday's game at Louisiana Tech, senior forward Larissa Scott's 16.0 rebounds per game led the nation in rebounds per game.
  • Scott's 10 blocked shots through three games put her eighth in the nation in that category, with an average of 3.3 swats per contest.
