No. 16 Texas A&M defeats #PVwbb in Lady Panthers' final pre-SWAC game

COLLEGE STATION, Texas – No. 16-ranked Texas A&M proved to be too much for Prairie View A&M to handle Tuesday as the Lady Panthers fell to the Aggies 88-30.

In the final non-conference game of the season for both teams, Khaalia Hillsman scored a game-high 22 points to lead four Aggies in double-figures. Texas A&M, ranked No. 16 in the Associated Press poll and No. 14 in the USA Today/Coaches poll, improved to 9-3.

Playing not far from her home town, Prairie View A&M's Lamaria Cole (Bryan, Texas/Rudder HS/Kansas) scored nine points to lead the Lady Panthers (4-5).

Alexus Parker scored six points for the Lady Panthers, while teammate Lanikki McMillian added five points. Larissa Scott scored four points for Prairie View A&M in addition to pulling in eight rebounds.

The Aggies scored the game's first four points, but the Lady Panthers trimmed the lead to one when Monique Abbs nailed a 3-pointer with 6:06 left to play in the opening period. From there, the Aggies scored 10 unanswered points, which was interrupted by a 1-of-2 free throw trip by PVAMU's Tori Carter.

Texas A&M led 18-4 at the end of one quarter and took a 39-10 lead into halftime.

The Lady Panthers were held to 22.6 percent shooting (12 of 53), their lowest total of the season. The
Aggies shot 50 percent (34 of 68) from the field; Prairie View A&M opponents have shot 50 percent or better from the floor in each game of the team's current four-game losing streak.

Prairie View A&M returns to action Saturday when they open Southwestern Athletic Conference play against Alcorn State. The Lady Panthers host the first game of the doubleheader at 5:30 p.m. at William J. Nicks Arena, with the men set to follow approximately 30 minutes after.
