Jeanette Jackson scored a game-high 23 points while
Alexus Parker and
Shamiya Brooks posted identical double-double totals Monday to lead the Prairie View A&M Lady Panthers to an 84-63 win over Arkansas–Pine Bluff.

Parker, a 5-foot-10 guard, and Brooks, a 6-foot-4 center, each scored 17 points and pulled in 10 rebounds for the Lady Panthers (12-14), who won their third consecutive game and improved to 9-5 in Southwestern Athletic Conference play.

Jazmyne Victorian came off the Arkansas–Pine Bluff (6-20, 4-11 SWAC) bench to score 16 points and grab nine rebounds to lead the Lady Golden Lions in a losing effort.

The Lady Golden Lions, who have lost 14 out of 15 games on the road, kept pace with their hosts through the first 18 minutes of the first half. The back-and-forth game that ensued produced 10 ties and three lead changes.

The Lady Panthers seized control of the game by scoring 10 out of the final 12 points to end the first half. Prairie View A&M hit its final four field goals of the half and took a 38-30 lead into halftime.

The home team shot 47 percent (15 of 32) from the floor in the first half. For the game, the Lady Panthers shot 41 percent (32 of 79).

The Lady Panthers, who have led the conference in 3-point attempts for most of the season, used the long-range shot sparingly, instead opting to go inside. Prairie View A&M outscored the Lady Golden Lions 50-30 in the paint.

When Prairie View A&M did opt to shoot long range, the Lady Panthers found success. The team shot 38 percent (3 of 8) from behind the 3-point arc. Meanwhile, the Lady Golden Lions struggled from long range, making only 16 percent (3 of 19) of their 3-point attempts.

Prairie View A&M kept the Lady Golden Lions at bay for the opening minutes of the second half, and then put the game away with a 17-1 run between the 15:09 and 9:46 marks that gave the Lady Panthers a 63-37 lead.

Chelsey Rosier scored six points apiece for Prairie View A&M.
Monique Abbs and
Asha Hampton-Finch added four points apiece for the Lady Panthers.

The Lady Panthers won for the 19th time in their past 21 meetings with Arkansas–Pine Bluff.

Prairie View A&M returns to action this weekend when the Lady Panthers visit the state of Alabama for their last scheduled trip out of state this season. The Lady Panthers visit Alabama A&M for a 5:30 tipoff Saturday.
