MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Prairie View A&M Lady Panthers play their final scheduled out-of-state contest of the season Monday when they visit Alabama State. Tipoff is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
The Lady Panthers (12-14, 9-5 SWAC) aim for their fifth consecutive victory Monday, having started their weekend trek east with an 81-71 win at Alabama A&M. The win was their sixth consecutive triumph over the Lady Bulldogs.
Prairie View A&M is led by the perimeter play of
Jeanette Jackson and
Alexus Parker. Jackson, a senior guard from Las Vegas, Nev., leads the SWAC in both scoring (17.6 points per game) and assists (3.8 apg). Parker, a sophomore from Savannah, Ga., has scored at least 13 points in eight of her last nine games, and averages 10.3 points per contest.
The Lady Hornets of Alabama A&M (12-13, 8-7 SWAC) enter Monday's contest looking to snap a three-game losing streak. Alabama State forward Britney Wright ranks second in the SWAC with a scoring average of 16.1 points per game. Her 6-foot-2 teammate Jasmine Peeples leads the conference in rebounding (9.9 rpg) and blocked shots (3.0 bpg).
The women's and men's games between the two teams will be broadcast on KPVU 91.3 FM. Leonard Moon will have the call.
