The Prairie View A&M Lady Panthers play their final home game of the season Saturday when they welcome the Lady Braves of Alcorn State to William J. Nicks Arena. Tipoff is scheduled for 3 p.m.
The Lady Panthers (13-16, 10-7 SWAC) are hoping to avenge their 68-46 loss at Alcorn State on January 5. Prairie View A&M has won four of its last six games, and is 7-2 at home this season. However, the Lady Panthers are also hoping to snap a two-game losing streak as they celebrate Senior Day.
Prairie View A&M is led by the perimeter play of
Jeanette Jackson and
Alexus Parker. Jackson, a senior guard from Las Vegas, Nev., leads the SWAC in both scoring (16.9 points per game) and assists (3.7 apg). Parker, a sophomore from Savannah, Ga., has scored at least 13 points in eight of her last 11 games, and averages 9.8 points per contest.
A win by the Lady Panthers would assure them of finishing no lower than fourth place and the fourth seed in the SWAC Tournament. On Senior Day, the Lady Panthers will also honor their five seniors – Jackson,
Asha Hampton-Finch,
Shaneece Stephens,
Christina Solmon, and
Larissa Scott.
The women's and men's games between the two teams will be broadcast on KPVU 91.3 FM. Leonard Moon will have the call.
