• Fresh off a season-opening win at Texas Southern on Sept.5, Prairie View A&M steps up a division and will face FBS Texas State in San Marcos, Texas on Saturday.

• Saturday's contest will be streamed live on ESPN3 with live audio on KPVU 91.3 FM.

• The Willie Simmons era got off to a solid start as the Panthers reclaimed the Durley-Nicks Labor Day Classic trophy after a 38-11 romp over conference foe Texas Southern.

• The SWAC honored the duo of quarterback Trey Green and defensive end Ahkeem Barton as its players of the week as both players had solid performances on both sides of the ball.

• Saturday's game marks the 14th meeting in series history as Texas State leads 11-2. The teams last met in 2013 in San Marcos, Texas as Texas State won 28-3 in its home opener.

• Prairie View A&M hasn't played a team from the Football Bowl Subdivision ranks since Texas State in 2013. Saturday's game marks the first of two games versus FBS teams over the next two seasons as PVAMU will play at Rice in 2016.

• The Panthers play eight games inside the state of Texas this season and won't leave the state until a contest at Southern
on Oct. 17.

• Under new defensive coordinator Ralph Street, the PVAMU defense made a successful debut as they allowed only 290 yards at Texas Southern and compiled four sacks and two interceptions.

• The Panthers have limited history against teams from the FBS ranks (0-3) as they've played three FBS teams since 2009. In 2009, PVAMU traveled to New Mexico State and ventured to Southern Miss in 2010 and Texas State in 2013.

• Five players were named to the 2015 All-SWAC Preseason Team while Prairie View A&M was picked third in the SWAC West in the annual SWAC Preseason Poll.
