The opening tipThe Prairie View A&M Lady Panthers (5-7, 1-2 SWAC) make their first overnight trip in conference play this weekend when they visit Grambling State and Jackson State as part of a two-game road swing. The Lady Panthers tip off with Grambling State on Saturday at 3 p.m. The Lady Tigers of Grambling State (6-9) are off to a 3-1 start in conference play, with their only SWAC loss coming at in-state rival Southern last Saturday.
The seriesSaturday's game will mark the 80th meeting between the two teams since the NCAA began sponsoring women's basketball in the 1981-82 season. The Lady Tigers lead the overall series 54-25, but Prairie View A&M has won 22 of the last 23 meetings between the teams since 2005. The Lady Panthers have won their last 12 games against the Lady Tigers, and are seeking their 11th consecutive win in Grambling. PVAMU has not lost a road game at Grambling State since a 67-62 loss on Feb. 12, 2005.
