GRAMBLING, La. – The Grambling State Lady Tigers scored seven of the last nine points in the fourth quarter Saturday before pulling away from Prairie View A&M in overtime to claim a 69-66 win over the Lady Panthers.

Bre'nae Andrews scored a game-high 22 points on 9-of-13 shooting for the Lady Tigers (7-9), who improved to 4-1 in Southwestern Athletic Conference play.

Larissa Scott recorded her sixth double-double of the season for the Lady Panthers, scoring 14 points and pulling in 16 rebounds.
Alexus Parker finished a rebound shy of her second double-double of the season, scoring a team-high 15 points in addition to her nine rebounds.

The Lady Panthers (5-8), dropped their third consecutive SWAC game, and are now 1-3 in league play.

Lamaria Cole and
Jeronia Allen scored 11 points apiece for the Lady Panthers. Allen was 5-of-7 from the floor playing in front of a large group of supporters; The Itawamba (Miss.) Community College transfer hails from Minden, La., approximately 40 miles from the Grambling State campus.

Grambling State's high-scoring freshmen, Jazmine Boyd and Shakyla Hill, scored 16 points and 10 points, respectively for the Lady Tigers.

Prairie View A&M led by as many seven points in the final five minutes of regulation. GSU ran off five consecutive points before Cole knocked down a 3-pointer in front of the PVAMU bench and got fouled during the play; she missed the ensuing free throw to keep the Lady Panthers' lead at 60-55.

After Grambling knocked down one out of two free throws to cut the PVAMU lead to four, the teams traded scoreless possessions until the 1:48 mark, when Hill hit a pair of free throws to trim the visitors' lead to 60-58. After Cole converted one of her two free throw attempts on the other end, Grambling got three chances on their next possession, with Monisha Neal finally converting a layup after an offensive rebound with 1:22 to play.

On Prairie View A&M's next possession,
Tori Carter was fouled, and she sank one out of her two shots to stretch the Lady Panther lead to 62-60. Boyd needed just 10 seconds to tie the game with a made jumper with 1:01 left in regulation.

PVAMU turned the ball over twice in the last 40 seconds, including their final possession of the fourth quarter after the Lady Panthers forced a shot-clock violation with 8.8 seconds to play. Hill's 3-point attempt as time expired barely missed, sending the game to overtime.

The teams traded a pair of baskets in the overtime frame before Grambling pulled ahead by four with 3:16 left in the extra period. The Lady Panthers kept forcing the Lady Tigers into miscues after that, but missed their final four shots of the game, with only Parker knocking down a pair of free throws with 2:31 left in overtime.

The Lady Panthers return to action Monday when they visit Jackson State. Tipoff is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.

GAME NOTES:- Grambling State snapped an 11-game losing streak to the Lady Panthers, defeating Prairie View A&M for the first time since 2010.
- Parker was 7-of-7 from the free throw line in the game; the rest of PVAMU's team was 2-of-9 from the charity stripe.
- The Lady Panthers shot 55 percent (21 of 38) from inside the arc during the game, but were 5-of-20 (25 percent) from 3-point range.
- Prairie View A&M lost for the first time this season when leading at halftime. The Lady Panthers took a 31-30 lead into the locker room at the half.
- The Lady Tigers defeated Prairie View A&M on their home floor for the first time since the 2004-05 season. The Lady Panthers had won the previous nine meetings at Grambling State.
