WACO, Texas -- The Prairie View A&M men's tennis team faced one of the top squads in the nation Friday as the Panthers paid of a visit to No. 5 Baylor.
The Bears prevailed in the match by a score of 7-0
(BOX SCORE).
Ulrick Boyogueno (pictured) had the longest day for the Panthers playing two tiebreaker games in his singles match against Tommy Podvinski in flight five. Boyogueno dropped a close 7-6 decision in set one, with Podvinski winning the tiebreaker 8-6, before fighting back with 6-4 win in set two.
Podvinski won the abbreviated tiebreaker by a score of 10-7.
Christian Waldron and
Sergio Avella each won a pair of games for the Panthers, falling to Julian Lenz and Max Tchoutakian by identical 6-0, 6-2 scores in singles flights one and two, respectively.
In doubles play, Boyogueno and
Anirudh Yadov fought hard before falling 6-2 to Tchoutakian and Podvinski.
The Panthers return to action Friday when they head to College Station, Texas for a neutral-court matchup with Texas-Rio Grande Valley.
