HOUSTON – The Prairie View A&M Lady Panthers make the short trip to Houston on Saturday to face in-state rival Texas Southern. Tipoff is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
 
The Lady Panthers split the opening weekend of Southwestern Athletic Conference play at home, defeating Alcorn State 58-54 last Saturday before falling 65-55 to Southern.
 
Lamaria Cole leads the Lady Panthers with scoring average of 16.6 points per game, which ranks second in the SWAC. Her 4.3 assists per game leads the conference, as does her 3.3 steals per game, which ranks 11th in the nation.
 
Texas Southern enters Saturday's contest having won its previous five games. The Lady Tigers have raced to a 2-0 start to SWAC play, winning their first two games by an average of 21.5 points per game.
 
Saturday's game will mark the 70th meeting between the two teams since the NCAA began sponsoring women's basketball in the 1981-82 season. The Lady Tigers have won five out of the last seven meetings, with each team winning at home last season.
