Women's Basketball Head To The Feast On the Border Tournament

The Prairie View A&M University women's basketball team will continue their road trip this weekend as they head to Edinburg, Texas to compete in the Feast On the Border Tournament.

The Lady Panthers will take on host team The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley Friday at 7 p.m., and face Marshall Saturday at 4:30 p.m.

Fans can watch live or get live stats  at pvpanthers.com.

"UTRGV is a solid team with  two wins under their belt," PVAMU head coach Ravon Justice said.  "This will be their first home game, so they will be coming out with a lot of energy and a lot of fire trying to take care of their home court.  We will have our hands full."

"Marshall is playing extremely well right now, and they haven't lost a game and are 3-0. (Head Coach) Matt (Daniel) does a really good job out there.  Marshall is going to get up and down the court real well, and they're going to shoot the ball really well.  We are going to have to be very disciplined and we are going to have to control what we can control.  This is a pretty balanced offensive team and they can score almost anywhere."

PVAMU has never faced either of these two teams before.  The Lady Panthers will be facing their second Conference-USA school when they face Marshall, the first being Rice in the season opener, losing 68-57.

Prairie View A&M is currently 2-2, 0-2 on the road, and winning twice at the Babydome.  The Feast on the Border Tournament will be the first and only neutral site games of the season.

Senior Alexus Parker scored  15 points, with four rebounds, two assists and one steal in Tuesday's 61-54 road loss to SMU this past Tuesday night.  Jeronia Allen posted her third double digit scoring game with 13 points against the Mustangs.  La'Sha Haynes grabbed a team high of 11 rebounds in the game against SMU and is averaging 8.5 rebounds a game.
