Lady Panthers Host Sam Houston State

Now that the Prairie View A&M women's basketball has had a full month under their belt going 3-4 so far this season, the Lady Panthers will look to start anew in December as they hosts Sam Houston St. Saturday, with the opening tip set for 3 p.m.

Fans can listen to the game on the OpenMic Broadcast Network through pvpanthers.com. It can also be viewed with the video and live stats links available on pvpanthers.com

Saturdays game will be the 13th meeting between PVAMU and Sam Houston St., with the Bearkats claiming all but one game throughout the years.  The last time these two teams faced each other was on December 27, 2014 in Huntsville, Texas and the Lady Panthers defeated the Bearkats 70-53.  It has been 10 years since Sam Houston has played at the W.J. Nicks Building.

The Lady Panthers offense is led by senior Alexus Parker, who is currently 47 points away from reaching 1,000th career points. She leads the team in scoring (SWAC rank?), averaging 16.3 points per contest.  Against Texas Tech earlier in the week senior Jeronia Allen led Prairie View A&M with 13 points, while teammate La'Sha Haynes grabbed 10 rebounds for PVAMU.

Sam Houston St. enters the Nicks Building 0-7 on the season.  Lydia Baxter accounted for 13 points and 13 rebounds in the 77-51 loss to Rice.  Jasmine McCants is currently leading the Bearkats in scoring averaging 8.9 ppg and in rebounding with 6.6 rebounds per game.
