MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Prairie View A&M Lady Panthers (9-8, 5-3 SWAC) make the trip south from Huntsville, Ala. for a Monday evening contest at Alabama State to complete the first round of Southwestern Athletic Conference play. The Lady Panthers opened their Alabama road trip with a 67-52 win at Alabama A&M on Saturday. Larissa Scott scored 16 points and grabbed eight rebounds in leading PVAMU to its fourth consecutive triumph.

Alabama State (8-9, 6-2 SWAC) will put its own winning streak on the line Monday; the Lady Hornets handed first-place Texas Southern its first defeat in SWAC play with a 57-51 win over the Lady Tigers. The win over TSU was Alabama State's sixth consecutive win.

The series
Prairie View A&M is 28-40 against the Lady Hornets since Alabama State joined the SWAC in 1982. The Lady Panthers are 6-4 over the last 10 meetings, though Alabama State swept the 2015 season series.
  • Prairie View A&M is 8-24 in Montgomery since ASU joined the SWAC, with seven of those wins occurring in the last 10 seasons.
  • The Lady Panthers' .412 win percentage is the highest mark against any out-of-state SWAC program that joined the league prior to the 1990s.
