BEAUMONT, Texas – The Prairie View A&M men's tennis team traveled east for a pair of dual matches this weekend at Lamar University. The Panthers faced host Lamar and Oral Roberts.
 
The Panthers fell to Lamar by 7-0 on Friday and then lost 6-1 to Oral Roberts on Saturday.
 
The Prairie View A&M men's and women's tennis teams will be in action Sunday, Feb. 14, at 10 a.m., when they host Texas–Permian Basin.
 
Oral Roberts 6, PVAMU 1
Christian Waldron claimed the Panthers' point when he defeated Amar Saletovic in flight one singles. Waldron fell in the first set 6-2, before taking set two by an identical 6-2 scoreline. He then claimed the PVAMU point with a 10-8 tiebreaker win in set three.
 
The win over Saletovic gave Waldron a bit of revenge after Saletovic and Jan Pehnec claimed a hard-fought 7-5 win over Waldron and Serio Avella in flight one doubles play.

Friday's match between the Panthers and host Cardinals featured a memorable flight one doubles match between Waldron and Avella and Lamar's Jeandre Hoogenboezem and Nikita Lis. The PVAMU duo took the first five games before Lamar's pairing pieced together a comeback with seven consecutive victories.
