Prairie View A&M took a 42-33 lead into halftime, and held their largest lead of the game when Scott converted a layup off a pass from Cole to cap a four-point run and give the Lady Panthers a 48-36 lead with 7:05 left to play in the third quarter.

Jackson State then responded by scoring the next 11 points over the next four minutes, 19 seconds to cut the home team's lead to one point. Daisha Williams knocked down a pair of free throws at the 2:46 mark to trim PVAMU's lead to 48-47.

Cole would stretch PVAMU's lead back up to four with a pair of free throws with 1:05 left in the third quarter, but Jackson State scored the last four points of the period to tie the game at 53. Jackson State clawed its way back into the game by holding PVAMU to 2-of-14 shooting (14.3 percent) from the field in the third quarter.

The Lady Tigers took the lead for good with an 8-0 run between the 6:41 and 2:57 marks to take a 64-58 lead. The advantage put the lead just out of reach for the Lady Panthers, who had back-to-back 3-points by Parker and Abbs partially nullified by a 3-pointer by Causey in between.

Abbs' trey with 1:34 remaining cut the lead to 69-67, but the Lady Panthers would get no closer as Jackson State hit four of its last five field-goal attempts and its last four free throws down the stretch. the Lady Tigers scored the last eight points of the game.
