NAGODOCHES, Texas – Prairie View A&M fell on the road 7-2 to Stephen F. Austin Tuesday afternoon.
The Lady Panthers fell behind 7-0 entering the fourth inning and had a prime opportunity to get back into contest in the fourth but had a runner caguth stealing after a leadoff single. PVAMU was able to add two additional hits after the early single but ended up stranding two runners to leave the frame scoreless.
Prairie View got on the board in the sixth when
Daneisha Hinton hit an RBI double to bring in
Briana Knowles, who reached on an error. Regan McIlvena later drove in Hinton with a single but was put out in her attempt to reach second. That ended PVAM's threat of getting back into the game.
Hinton finished 2-for-2 at the plate for PVAMU while
Sabrina Johnson dropped to 1-4 for PVAMU, allowing six runs (five earned) on five hits in two innings.
Olivia Lacewell pitched four innings of relief, allowing four hits and one run and striking out three.
PVAMU is back in action this Friday at 3 p.m. as they'll face SWAC rival Texas Southern.
