SAN ANTONIO - Prairie View A&M returned to the softball diamond after a week's hiatus as they dropped a doubleheader at Incarnate Word Tuesday afternoon.
In game one, PVAMU surrendered eight unanswered runs as UIW claimed a 10-2 win in the opener.
Laurisa Hernandez drove in the game's first run with an RBI single in the first but PVAMU surrendered two runs in the bottom frame on a wild pitch and an RBI double. Â PVAMU tied the contest at 2-all in the second as
Kylar Ward-Flowers homered in her hometown but the lead was brief as UIW tacked on two more runs in the second. The scoring would cease at that point for PVAMU as UIW scored three times in the third to move ahead 7-2 en route to adding three additional runs over the final three innings.
Shelby Williams finished 2-for-3 and a run scored while
Ashley Higgins fell to 3-9 on the season.
The Lady Panthers hit a buzzsaw in the second game as UIW recorded an 11-0 win.
UIW combined to score six runs in the first two innings and never looked back before breaking the game open in the fourth with a five-run frame. Williams, Hernandez and
Regan Richard each had a hit for PVAMU while
Sabrina Johnson dropped to 1-5 on the season.
PVAMU is back in action this weekend as they'll travel to Baton Rouge, La. to face Southern beginning on Friday.
