PINE BLUFF, Arkansas – The Prairie View A&M University women's basketball team lost at Arkansas-Pine Bluff 64-47 Monday night at H.O. Clemmons Arena.
Alexus Parker and
Dominique Newman each scored 13 points and
Jeronia Allen had 12 points for the Lady Panthers.
La'Sha Haynes added 12 rebounds for PVAMU (7-12, 2-5).
Prairie View A&M got off to a fast start, taking a 20-13 lead after one. Parker and Allen each scored six points in the period, and Newman's three gave PVAMU the seven-point margin.
In the second quarter, a layup by Allen and a jumper by Newman completed an 8-0 run that gave the Lady Panthers their largest lead of the night, 24-13, with 7:28 to play until halftime. The Lady Panthers led 31-27 at halftime.
In the second half, PVAMU could not hold the lead, scoring only 16 second-half points.
