This will be the first time these two teams have matched up since Aug. 28, 2015, when the Bearkats hosted its volleyball invite. Sam Houston came out of the last outing with the upper hand, winning 25-15, 25-13 and 26-24.
The Bearkats are lead offensively by Jordyn Vaughn. Vaughn put down a match-high 19 kills in their last game, defeating conference opponent Houston Baptist. Sam Houston (10-9, 7-0) is on a seven game win streak.
Prairie View A&M is coming off a tough 3-0 home loss to Arkansas Pine Bluff Monday night by the scores of 24-26, 22-25, 25-22, and 22-25.
Senior libero
Christen Augustine will be key in assisting the Lady Panthers defense to stop the Bearkats fast offense. Augustine is averaging 4.11 digs per set.
"We are going into Sam Houston on Saturday for a noon matchup that is going to shown on ESPN3," said head Volleyball Coach Tacho Tyler. "Hopefully we will get these last minute kinks out before we head back into SWAC play next week. During non-conference games we like to use different combinations and play girls that haven't played as much. Our goal is to go in and get the win. These games are mostly to prepare for our conference match ups."
