BOX SCORE 3 MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Prairie View A&M University volleyball team closed the Southwestern Athletic Conference roundup on a good note, sweeping Alcorn State Sunday in three sets.
Sunday's match against Alcorn was a much needed win for the Lady Panthers winning by the scores of 25-11, 25-16, and 25-8.
It was PV's match pretty much through all three sets. Throughout the match there was a total of four tied scores and one lead change.
The offense was led by Larissa Martinez with nine kills, while Victoria Pearson and Mariah Thomas added five apiece. Both Erica Jimenez and Mykaeli Franklin each handed out 11 assists apiece, while Christen Augustine handled the defensive side of the net with 18 digs.
On day two of the roundup Saturday, the Lady Panthers fell to both Alabama State and Jackson State. Â
In their opening match up on Saturday against Alabama State, the Lady Panthers fell 3-0, by the scores of 25-18, 25-12 and 25-12. Franklin led the team with six kills, while also leading the team dishing out nine assists. Tatierra Johnson led the team on the defensive side of the ball with nine digs a season best.
In the evening match Saturday, Prairie View A&M went the distance in a  hard fought five-set falling by the scores of 21-25, 24-26, 25-13, 25-21 and 15-17 against Jackson St.

Thomas led the team with a season-best 12 kills, while Pearson added 11 kills. Franklin led the team with 21 assists, her fourth time with 20 or more assists in a match this season. Augustine made a career high of 33 digs in the game.

PVAMU will return to action hosting Grambling State next Sunday, October 29 at 5 p.m. in the William J. Nicks Building.
